| The F4E Blog | You want our support, then earn the right
It gets me when England fans are asked to get behind the team in their Euro qualifiers. The England fans were superb out in South Africa and were the only ones you could hear over the noise of those vuvuzelas, and what did they get in return? No passion, no belief, a complete shambles. England as a team need to deliver on the pitch first and then they might earn the right to expect the support of the paying fans, not the other way round. The FA and current England setup seem to think the World Cup fiasco will be forgotten in a matter of weeks and that shows how out of touch they really are. I think it caused more than just a few of us to give up on the national side, or at least to take far less interest in how they do in future. Euro Qualifiers, what Euro Qualifiers? Will I even bother to look for the results...
Pipe ban
So UEFA have decided to ban the vuvuzela. They think it would ruin the traditional atmosphere of games in Europe. I can think of a few places where it would add 95% of the atmosphere, but on the whole I think it's probably for the best. I mean, could we stand the thought of all the teams playing like England, France, Italy and many others did during the World Cup... I mean, obviously it was some kind of African voodoo magic stirred up by the mysterious vuvuzela... I mean, all those talented, highly paid athletes couldn't possibly have played that badly unless under a spell, right?
Milan give a home to another lost Brazilian
I see Robinho has joined AC Milan, that will please my Italian uncle (not). He's a lifelong AC Milan fan who in recent years has watched a team of players many seemingly as old as he is, many of them discards from other clubs seeing out the twilight of their careers in the red and black stripes, while their bitter rivals Inter wave to them from their luxury coach on their way to the Italian Cup, Serie A title and Champions League title. And just when he thought it couldn't get much worse, they add another lazy, selfish, overpaid Brazilian to the team!
